This year, after some years hiatus, The Berkshire Medical Center Breast Health Team and the Whitney Center for the Arts are partnering to bring back the popular “Think Pink” fundraising art event with a broader theme based not just on breast cancer awareness, but cancer awareness in general. The title/theme for this revised event is “Not Just Pink.”
The show will open on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, MA from 5-8PM. An After Party is slated from 8-10PM, with live musical entertainment by The Shadow Twisters, and refreshments. The opening reception coincides with Pittsfield‘s “First Fridays Artswalk.”
The art exhibit has been curated by Leo Mazzeo. Artists showing their work include: Heather Austin, Angela Brett, Mario Caluori, Rick Casucci, Daniel Dougherty, Andrea Feldman, Virginia Goggins, Katherine Haig, Ghetta Hirsch, Grier Horner, Jennifer Huberdeau, Jane Hudson, Jurëk, Lisa Ketcham, Mark Mellinger, Lisa Merullo, Carol Moynihan, Ivor Parry, Anthony Ptak, David Ricci, Marney Schorr, Rosemary Starace, Sarah Sutro, Holly Whiting, and Terry Wise.
In conjunction with the show, also @ the Whit, on Saturday, October 21, cancer survivor Andrea Feldman will present a slideshow and talk at 2PM on how she used painting to transform the physical and emotional stress of a life-threatening illness. Coffee and refreshments will be served at 1PM.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Berkshire Medical Center’s Breast Health Team, Berkshire Health Systems, and the Whitney Center for the Arts.
This fundraiser is to benefit Moments House. Moments House, located at 2 South Street, Pittsfield, MA is a non-profit gathering place for those fighting cancer, including their family and friends. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, from tiny tykes to the elderly. Moments House provides comfort, information, and support for those confronting cancer “so no one faces cancer alone.”
The Berkshire Medical Center Breast Health Team: “Our mission is to educate, support, create awareness, and promote breast health.”
